Welcome to the new site! It is definitely still a work in progress, but it’s up. I’m excited about the changes going on here. In March of 2011, a few months after I stopped working full-time as a Law Firm Administrator, I began blogging. A few years prior to that, I had read Making a Living without a Job by Barbara Winter and was inspired by her concept of Multiple Profit Centers. It’s basically what it sounds like, relying on multiple sources of income, instead of only a conventional full-time job. I liked the idea of diversifying my income, plus it appealed to the Renaissance woman in me. When the law firm closed its doors, I decided to pull the trigger on that dream. Unfortunately, life got a little crazier than normal and I only half-heartedly pursued this ambition.
I’m ready to get serious about blogging and my other profit centers. While the blog brings in a little bit of money, I know it could do much better. I am committed to increasing traffic to the site and monetizing it in ways that I have not previously. I will be adding some sidebar ads, improving SEO (search engine optimization), marketing posts on social media, and pursuing more affiliate opportunities. I assure you that I will only write about products that I either own or genuinely like. My opinions are always my own and will never be purchased. You will notice disclaimers on my posts about affiliate income. These are required by the FTC and I want to play by the rules (I’m surprised how many blogs don’t do this).
In addition to building the blog, I will also be concentrating my efforts on design, especially Lettering and Surface Pattern Design. I have spent a lot of time this year improving my lettering skills and am looking forward to opening a shop of lettered pieces.
Please be patient with me as I continue to work on the site. It’s amazing how time intensive some seemingly simple tasks can be.
