Things are gradually progressing in the garden. This weekend, I mowed the yard for the first time this season; planted some of my plants started from seed; and did some sprucing up with spray paint on some grungy looking flower pots. This particular pot was looking really bad. I sprayed it with a coat of Kilz primer, followed by a coat of black, and a coat of oil rubbed bronze. I also began painting a bunch of faux terra cotta pots with the oil rubbed bronze. I’ve decided to go for a muted cohesive look from the pots and use flowers for pops of color.
Here’s the current state of the garden:
Newly Planted Blueberry Bush
Cucumber Plant
Flower Bed Filling in Nicely
Potato Plants Starting to Break Through
Strawberry Blooms
Tomato Plants
I’m not sure about that blueberry bush; it looks pretty puny. I picked it up at Aldi on a whim. I had read several articles that said you can grow blueberries in a planter. After I bought the plant I saw more articles that said it wasn’t a good idea. So I guess we’ll have to wait and see. This week on the agenda: add more dirt to the potato pot; start seeding the lawn with grass seed; and finishing painting the rest of the pots.
Do you have a garden? What are you growing?
