The following salad spinner review is part of my series of product reviews. All reviews are my honest opinion and not paid advertisements.
My eating habits are a little out of control – way too much sugar and fast food. I’m working to get back on track. I love to cook and enjoy being in the kitchen, but if I’ve had a long day, it’s the last thing I want to do. Having things ready to throw together in advance is what works for me and my salad spinner is one of the most used tools in my arsenal. I love this one from OXO; I use it for spinach, kale, and lettuce. I fill the strainer basket with greens, place the basket in the bowl and fill it with water and leave it to soak for a few minutes. Once it’s had a good soak, I pour out all the water, run some water through the basket, put it back in and spin a few times by pushing down on the button on the lid. I pour out the excess water, put the lid back on and lock the spinner, then put the entire thing in the fridge so it’s ready when I want it. It’s air-tight and makes a great storage container. Lettuce doesn’t seem to keep as long as spinach or kale but it’s eaten a lot faster when it’s ready and waiting to use. The bowl is also attractive enough that I’ve used it to serve salad when hosting meals at my house. The small one is sufficient for my needs but if you have a large family and go through a lot of greens, you might want to size up to the large. If you want to incorporate more leafy greens into your diet but want to do all that washing, I highly recommend this spinner. It makes the process easy and kind of fun.
