The Minimalists have a month-long game where you give up one thing on the first, two on the second, three on the third, etc. By the end of a (31 day) month, you’ve discarded 496 things. I was contemplating doing this in February but have decided that for my schedule, instead of having a number to discard each day, it’s much easier for me to have a total and work towards that. Their total of 496 is so close to 500, I just decided to make it an even 500, or 125 things per week. I really have no idea if this is going to be easy or difficult. Since this is not my first big purge, I suspect it might get a bit difficult to find things to discard as I get closer to the 500 mark. Or maybe I’ll get so carried away that I’ll go beyond the goal. Only time will tell.
