It’s been three weeks since my birthday and my declaration about my goals for the year. So how am I doing? Okay. I’m doing better with some things than others. I have been trying to embrace the discomfort and take one step each day. I have developed a habit of playing the piano at least 20 minutes each day. I’ve even made decent progress on the Chopin piece. It was slow going at first. It took me awhile to even conquer the first measure, but I kept at it and I’ve almost mastered the first page.
Carving out time has not been too difficult since I’ve only been sleeping for about 6.5 hours a night lately. I’ve been waking up at 4:30 like clockwork so I’ve been putting that time to good use and reading. I haven’t focused much on speed reading. I do think I have increased my speed a bit by using some of the online tools, but I really like to ruminate over what I read, so I’m not sure I’ll ever be much of a speed reader.
Next up is working on my surface pattern design skills. I’ve had a serious case of designer’s block. I started an online surface pattern design class this week which will hopefully get me back in the swing of things. My new goal is to start sketching and working on calligraphy every day.
What small step can you take today to work towards your goals?
