Kaffe Fassett on Creativebug
I shared in my New Year’s post of my intention to concentrate on pattern design this year. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved pattern design: whether it was staring at the bathroom wallpaper to find the repeat, or drawing my own patterns with crayons. I am sad to say that lately I have spent more time dreaming about designing patterns than actually designing them. That is going to change.
My homework for this week is:
- Begin Pattern Design and Reign Repeats classes in Skillshare
- Begin reading Pattern by Orla Kiely
As I write this, I have not begun either class so I’m not sure what they entail. I imagine a lot of the information provided will be refresher for me. The Reign Repeats class has over 4 hours of material so I’m hoping to learn something new; it may take a few weeks to complete. In addition to that work, I am hoping to also begin a new series of posts on Saturdays, photos of patterns I encounter in daily life. I think that might make for great inspiration and also help me open my eyes and enjoy the patterns I encounter in daily life.
What are your goals for this year? What are you going to do this week to accomplish them?
