Did you have a nice weekend? I was feeling a bit cooped up. The first half of the weekend was too hot to spend much time outside and the second was too wet. Fortunately, the rain stopped yesterday afternoon and I was able to get outside. I wish the humidity would go away; I’m dying to go for a run.
Wanting… Ikat Messenger Bag. I have been carrying a bag that I bought in Vietnam when I studied abroad (15 years ago). It’s the perfect size and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, since it’s fabric, I don’t think it’s going to last a lot longer. This bag is at the top of my list for a replacement.
Reading… Where’d You Go, Bernadette: A Novel. At the first of the month, Amazon marked down several books on my wish list and I went on a bit of a Kindle book shopping spree. This was one of my purchases. It’s an interesting read. I’m not sure I love the way the story’s told – it’s primarily a conglomeration of letters and emails mixed with some narration by Bernadette’s daughter. The story is enjoyable, but the telling of it is a bit all over the place.
Listening to… Patty Griffin. I have been a pretty big fan of hers for years and was excited to discover she finally released a new CD with original material. I love her music more and more with each listen; she is an amazing lyric writer – sometimes, it takes more than one listen to appreciate it. I would love to see her perform live.
Watching… Orange is the New Black. I read the book a couple of years ago and really liked it. The TV show is a lot more graphic than the book (at least as I remember it). The TV show is told from an interesting perspective. Each episode is told with a focus on one of the prisoners. In addition to the main character, Piper, we see the lives of some of the other prisoners before they ended up in prison. I will probably finish the season because I’m interested in the story but it’s way too graphic for me.
Eating… at Picasso Cafe. We had the Spinach, Hummus, Tapenade Trio Appetizer and I had the Airline Chicken. Everything was yummy. Will definitely be going back here.
