Watching…
A Confession. I think I originally saw a preview of this on Facebook and decided to get a trial of BritBox so I could watch. It’s pretty dark and centers around the death of two young women. There are also some pretty realistic scenes involving drug addiction. It could definitely be triggering. But it was very well written and acted and was thought-provoking. This is the darkest thing I’ve managed to make it through since Coronavirus hit my state.

Eight Perfect Murders. I’ve just begun reading this but have high hopes after hearing good things about it. Plus Swanson’s The Kind Worth Killing, was one of my favorites. I’ve been hoping to get into a good thriller. I hope this one meets my expectations.

Coronavirus: Fact versus Fiction – Why Small Decisions Feel So Difficult. I have had so much trouble thinking and concentrating lately. I think a lot of it has to do with a lack of sleep combined with training and developing a routine with a new dog, but this podcast episode spoke to me. Heightened decision fatigue during a pandemic is real.
Installing…
Nest Thermostat E. I had some Air Conditioning issues last week which ultimately led to my downstairs thermostat getting fried. When the repairman offered to install a very basic (non-programmable) thermostat for $50, I decided to upgrade to a smart thermostat and install it myself. I had originally thought I would eventually get an Ecobee but went with the lower-cost Nest instead. I’ve installed a few thermostats and other than the WiFi setup, this was by far the easiest to install. So far I’m liking it. I haven’t yet set it up with my Echo but have used my phone to adjust the temperature.

Halide Camera App. In the excitement of Arlo joining the household, I decided to create an Instagram account for him. It’s been a low-pressure way to practice my photography and social media skills. I have the iPhone XR which can only take shallow depth of field photos of people. When researching my options I found this app. I’m a fan. I’ve been able to take some pretty good pictures with it.
