How was your weekend? The weather here was almost perfect. I spent most of the weekend working in the yard. I’m hoping quarantining helps me get my yard into shape.
Watching…
CBS Sunday Morning. I’ve all but given up on regular news watching (other than my flash briefing from Alexa and the local news to get the forecast). It’s just too depressing and anxiety-inducing. I’ve loved CBS Sunday Morning for years, but haven’t been a regular watcher for years. I’m finding my way back and it’s mostly not depressing.
Reading…
Finding Your Artistic Voice. I’ve been following Lisa Congdon since taking one of her classes on Creativebug several years ago. In this book, she talks about how she found her artistic voice and interviews other artists to learn about how they found theirs. It’s illustrated throughout with her fun quirky style.
Listening to…
99% Invisble: Masking for a Friend. This episode, about the history of the face mask, was kind of fascinating (as all episodes are). Roman always manages to take a mundane thing and report an interesting story.
Experimenting with…
Yedi Air Fryer. I’d had my eye on this air fryer for awhile. Knowing that I would be eating in for the foreseeable future, I pulled the trigger when the lockdown began. So far I’ve cooked chicken a couple of times. I made waffle fries and some precut root vegetables. I’m not sure that I would say it’s as life-changing as some people do, but I suspect I will really appreciate not heating up the oven (and kitchen) when summer arrives.
Eating…
Olives. I have loved olives since I first ate them as a kid. I’m famous in my family for teaching all those younger than me how to put them on their fingers. I’m not sure if it’s just my love of them or a comfort thing, but I have been consuming a lot of olives during quarantine. I got a huge jar of Castelvetrano olives on my last trip to Costco and have almost eaten the entire jar in less than two weeks. And those aren’t even the only olives I’ve been eating! My favorites are the Castelvetrano and Jeff’s Naturals Antipasto. Both are especially delicious heated in the microwave.
