Watching… Evil. I wasn’t planning to watch this show until I read an article with critic’s lists of the best of the new season and this show was on several lists. They all said that it wasn’t a show they wanted to watch before bed so I took that warning with the first episode which was pretty creepy. The second and third episodes were good but not especially creepy. Then came last week’s episode, I watched it in the middle of the day Saturday and it took me a while to get past it – very creepy and very disturbing.
Reading… Ultralearning. I’ve heard the author of this book on a couple of podcasts and thought his book sounded interesting. He has done a few of his own ultralearning experiments, including completing MIT’s entire computer science curriculum in a year. I’m working on crafting my own design ultralearning program.
Listening to… Armchair Expert: Monica Lewinsky. This episode wasn’t as funny as some but is probably one of my favorite episodes of this podcast. I didn’t really know anything about Lewinsky beyond the Clinton scandal. She is smart and very well-spoken on the subject of trauma and bullying.
Loving… my Guinea pig socks. I came across these socks while scouring the sock section at Target for ankle socks. I didn’t really need another pair of no show socks but couldn’t resist. My dad raised Guinea pigs as a teenager and they make me think of him.
Thankful for… pet SAMe. As I’ve probably mentioned, Charlotte is scared of thunderstorms and I have tried everything to soothe her. I think I stumbled upon something that works. At her last vet appointment, her bloodwork showed an elevated liver count. The vet wanted me to start her on SAMe. It can be helpful for anxiety in humans so I wondered if it might help with her storm anxiety. We haven’t had a really bad storm yet, but there have been two occasions since she began taking it that it stormed and both times she didn’t even seem to notice. I am really hopeful.
