Watching… Luther. I was so excited when I learned they were bringing Luther back for a surprise season. Unfortunately, it did not turn out as well as I’d hoped. I think it may have been better left alone. But it also possible that it’s been so long since I saw the first four seasons, that I’d forgotten who some people were. I think I’d also forgotten how dark the show is and it’s possible I just don’t enjoy things that are that dark anymore.
Reading… Bad Blood. I’ve been going to read this for quite some time, but after listening to the podcast and watching the 20/20 expose, I kind of lost interest on the whole Elizabeth Holmes story. But, this was this month’s book club so I dove back in. Once I got into it, I did really enjoy it. There were quite a few things that I don’t remember coming up in the podcast or 20/20. I can’t for the life of me figure out her motivation. It seems like she must have really believed in her “technology” because it was so obviously a house of cards otherwise.
Listening to… Over My Dead Body: Joe Exotic. Being from Oklahoma, I thought I knew all there was to know about Joe Exotic – I was wrong. The first episode begins with a surprise. I do cringe every time it’s mentioned that this story takes place in Oklahoma – but there are wackos everywhere.
Loving… my new Monstera, Herman. I have been wanting a Monstera for a long time but haven’t been able to find one. Trader Joe’s provided me with my Pilea and now they’ve offered up a Monstera as well. I almost shouted with joy when I saw them at the entrance. Either TJ’s overwatered Herman or he’s not used to the Oklahoma humidity. He’s been sweating since I brought him home.
Selecting… paint colors. I’m in the middle of a minor kitchen renovation. The ceiling has been repaired where it was cut into a few years ago for plumbing repairs; I’m embarrassed it took that long to repair. I spent much of the weekend texturing and sanding. Next up is priming and painting. I’m going to go all white. I had no idea there were so many shades of white! I’m painting the cabinets and will select whatever wall paint looks best with the cabinet paint.
