Reading…
The Huntress. I really enjoyed the author’s previous book, The Alice Network, and was looking forward to her latest work. Both books are a good combination of stories of WWII strong women. I’m about a quarter of the way into this and have been enjoying it so far. It also has the element of inspiring me to research and learn more about history. When I’m finished with my month of HBO, I may have to get Epix so I can watch Operation Finale, the story of the capture of Adolf Eichmann.
Watching…
Big Little Lies. I have been anxiously awaiting the seasons of all my favorite HBO shows to finish so I could subscribe for a month and catch up. At the top of my list was Big Little Lies. It took me a couple of episodes to get back into it, but once I did I was hooked. Meryl Streep was amazing as Celeste’s mother-in-law. I’m looking forward to what Season 3 has in store.
Listening to…
Criminal: He’s Still Neutral. I absolutely loved this episode about a man that comes up with a creative solution to the problem of people dumping trash outside his home. His solution takes on a life of its own, curbing neighborhood crime and creating a place to which people pilgrimage.
Trying…
Timery. Determined to decrease my consumption of social media and TV bingeing, and increase my creativity, I decided that I would give time-tracking a try. Part of me is resistant because I don’t want to become obsessive-compulsive about it, but I’m also aware that monitoring how I spend my time will assuredly improve my creativity to consumption ratio. I’ve only been at it a day, but using the Timery app with Toggl has been pretty easy to do (once timers are set up) and has dramatically increased my mindfulness in how I spend time.
Using…
Creativebug. I have been a Creativebug subscriber for a while now, but haven’t been using it as much as I would like. Instead, I’ve been doing the easy things that require less resistance (like social media and TV). Hopefully, time-tracking will help me make changes and opt for creative learning instead of consuming media. I’m excited to see all the new offerings the service has since the last time I checked. I’m especially interested in Living a More Creative Life and Get Unstuck.
