Reading…
Don’t Go There. I love a good travel memoir, so I was excited when my book club decided to read this one. I’m about three quarters through it and was surprised to see that I’ve been to two of the places he writes about: Istanbul and Jerusalem. While we did see some protestors in Instanbul, my experience was nowhere near as harrowing as the authors. I did not go to Hebron, but my Israel experience was a tiny bit nervewracking as the U.S. recommended that all U.S. citizens leave the country while I was there.
Watching…
Saving Hope. I’m taking a break between streaming services (I’m hoping maybe Amazon will have some sort of Prime Day Deal). Ion has two days a week devoted to this series so I’ve watched an episode here and there. I think I may enjoy it for Nostalgia reasons, as it reminds me a bit of Kiss Me Goodbye. Some episodes can be a little melodramatic, but it’s a good palate cleanser before starting my next series.
Listening to…
Criminal: Stowaway. I really enjoyed this episode of Criminal about a woman that managed to stowaway on a week-long cruise. It was the 60’s and security was a lot laxer than it is today. She had put a lot of thought into how she would stowaway; she thought she had a full-proof plan and decided to give it a go.
Planting…
Some of my succulents have gotten out of control with new plants growing off of old plants. This weekend, I was inspired to break apart the babies and plant them on their own. I also ended up with a bunch of loose leaves to start more babies. If all of these take off, I’ll have to find them new homes when the weather turns cold. I’m running out of room in the house.
Exploring…
Like to Know It App. I have seen various fashion bloggers mention this app as a way to see where their clothes are from. I had not downloaded it until my sister was telling me how much she likes it. I have mixed feelings. I think its aim is to encourage overconsumption and fast fashion – things I’m trying to get away from. But, I figured out that you can search an item and see how a bunch of different bloggers have styled it. It’s helping me shop my closet and wear things in different ways. It also helped me identify a no-longer-sold-in-stores item so that I could find it on Poshmark.
