Watching… Dead to Me. I binge watched this over the weekend and I loved it! It’s a dark dramedy with lots of twists and turns. It ends with a pretty big cliffhanger so I hope that there’s a season two. I don’t want to give too much away. I’m not even sure what to compare it to – maybe Desperate Housewives. It’s not as soapy as Desperate Housewives but the humor is similar.
Reading… Maid. This is THE most depressing book that I’ve ever read. This memoir by Stephanie Land is her story of the time in her life when she found herself a young single mother, without any financial support and very little emotional support. I think it’s an important look at the struggle some people face. It definitely makes you feel the despair of being in that situation. Between this book and the dreary weather, I was really ready for some sunshine to come back to my life.
Listening to… Oklahoma’s DNA on BrainBox. One of my goals in life is to improve my knowledge of Oklahoma History. My OK history teacher in high school was a coach that was fired in the middle of the year because he was unable to get certified as a teacher – a teacher he was not. I’ve only listened to this episode so far, but it really made me think about regional differences and why us Okie’s see things the way we do.
Loving… my American Express Cash Preferred Card. I mentioned this card Friday but I wanted to share more today. Most of my spending is on groceries and gas. This card offers 6% back on groceries and 3% back on gas. This is much better than my 2% card (which used to be the best available). They recently expanded the categories to include 6% on streaming services and 3% on transit. My spending in these new categories isn’t very high, but every bit helps. There is a $95 annual fee but with the $300 bonus and the regular cash back, it will more than pay for itself.
Using… the Insight Timer App. I’ve been doing pretty good at keeping up with my daily meditation. Somedays I go longer than others, and I haven’t yet made it past 15 minutes. But, from everything I’ve read about meditation, even short daily sessions are better than the occasional long session. This app is my favorite for timing my sessions. And I discovered yesterday that you can add sounds to your sessions. I’ve discovered that listening meditation seems to be easier for me.
