How was your weekend? I was really sleepy this weekend and took lots of naps. I think I’m still adjusting to the time change.
Reading… Marilla of Green Gables. When I was growing up, Lucy Maude Montgomery was my favorite author. I still remember going to the bookstore and discovering they had a new L.M. Mongtomery book. I was surprised when the store clerk told me she’d written a new one – an amazing feat for someone who died long before I was born. I have just started reading this prequel about Marilla’s life before Anne, but so far I’m pleased. I think Sarah McCoy does a good job of matching the voice of Montgomery. It makes me want to re-read the Anne books, something I haven’t done if far too long.
Watching… Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency on Hulu. I’m not sure where I heard about this show. I started watching it last week. It’s a little weird but unpredictable and amusing. I’m not sure what to compare it to. It’s not about aliens (or at least I don’t think it is – it’s definitely fantastical) but it reminds me a bit of Men in Black (but weirder). If you’re in the mood for something different, this one fits the bill. You can get a 30 day free trial to Hulu using here.
Listening to… Over My Dead Body podcast. I like to always have a good true crime podcast in my lineup. This one is the story of a couple who seems to have it all. They eventually split and go through a nasty divorce; then one of them ends up dead. I think I’ve replaced my Dateline addiction with podcasts.
Loving… Trader Joe’s Flowers. I don’t think I’ve made a trip to Trader Joe’s this month that I didn’t leave without a plant/flowers. I’ve bought Calla Lillies, a miniature rose, a daisy, a hyacinth, and cut tulips. I’m planning to plant all but the cut flowers once the threat of a freeze has passed. They bring a touch of spring indoors and are less expensive than they would be if I purchased them at the garden center.
Trying… Dudios Bluetooth Headphones. Unfortunately, my new iPhone uses the lightning headphones, so my old headphones don’t work. The phone came with one pair but I like to keep one in my purse for work and travel and another pair at home for exercise. I tried to get an adapter from Amazon but it was horrible. It wasn’t OEM, so I may try an Apple brand one to see if it’s better. The lightning headphones are $30 and AirPods are $160. Since these were $25, I decided to give them a go. I can’t decide if I like them. I have baby ears and Apple earbuds are the only ones I’ve had that aren’t uncomfortable. First world problems.
