Reading… The Ruin. I finished this book over the weekend. It’s written by an Irish writer and set in Ireland. I don’t think I’ve consumed enough Irish media to have mastered the Irish voice. For this reason, it took me awhile to get into this mystery. I found myself having a little trouble comprehending and having to reread things. I think this is why I’ve never been able to get into Tana French books. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the follow-up. I will have to give Tana French another go when I’ve dug out from under all my library reserves.
Watching… Fresh Off the Boat. I have been watching this show from the beginning. I’ve always enjoyed it, but I think this season has been especially good. I’ve found myself laughing out loud on several instances. I hope that it gets the love it needs and is renewed. It’s filling the whole left in my heart by The Middle.
Eating… at Mary Eddy’s. I had brunch at Mary Eddy’s on Saturday and it was delish, as usual. My avocado toast was really good, but the Red Velvet Cake stole the show. We got a piece for the table and for some reason everybody else stopped eating it long before it was gone. It was so good, I couldn’t let it go to waste.
Wanting… Chacos. As part of my goal to do more hiking and kayaking, I’ve been wanting a pair of Chacos. Amazon had a pretty good selection and I had an Amazon card burning a hole in my pocket; so I pulled the trigger and ordered three pair via Prime Wardrobe and a pair that wasn’t available via Wardrobe. I’ve heard that each pair can fit a little differently, so you should try several before making a decision. I’ve also read that you can buy youth sandals to save money, so I included a youth pair in my Wardrobe selection. Hopefully one of the four pairs on their way works out.
Using… my Cross Pen. A former employer gave me a fancy Cross as a gift. I did not use it at work because people liked to walk off with my pens and I didn’t want it to disappear. When I left that job, I brought it home, but never used it. I’ve been successfully writing my morning pages a la The Artist’s Way and used up all the ink in my favorite pen. When I went searching the house for a replacement, I came across my Cross. I’ve really been enjoying using it and have set up a subscription for refills through Subscribe and Save.
