Reading… Someone Else’s Love Story. I think I heard about this book on the “What Should I Read Next?” podcast. The story begins with a convenience store robbery. The robber holds the customers, including a single mother and her son hostage. It’s not the best book I’ve ever read but the story was unpredictable. So many stories are easy to figure out, I love when I don’t.
Watching… Victoria & Abdul. I’ve always been a bit fascinated with the Royals, but have really been interested in Queen Victoria since watching Victoria on Masterpiece. This story was fascinating. It appears that the story is pretty true-to-life. I assume, they can’t know everything that was said in private conversations, but the gist of it, at least, is true.
Listening to… Dirty John. I saw this podcast mentioned in the New York Times Podcast Club. I’m a fan of true crime so I decided to check it out. I’m three episodes in. John was a scam artist that scammed multiple women out of their money. The story is primarily focused on one woman in particular, after five months of knowing him (and being suspicious of him on their first date), she marries him. He claims to be a doctor and own three houses, yet she’s never seen any of these houses and drives a car that she bought for him. It’s crazy!
Wanting… new light fixtures. There’s nothing like hosting Thanksgiving to make a girl look at her house with fresh eyes and see all the things she wants to get done. I know I’ve mentioned this multiple times, I dislike almost all of the light fixtures that my house came with. Fifteen years later, I’m finally changing them out. This weekend I spent entirely too much time considering all the possible dining room fixtures. I finally settled on this one. I wanted something mid-century style. I think this one will look good with some of the black finishes in the house.
Loving… the cooler temperatures. I’m so excited for the cooler weather! It was so nice yesterday morning that Charlotte and I went for our first run of the season. I know people run in Oklahoma when it’s over 100 degrees with 100% humidity. I have come to accept that I am just not one of those people.
