Reading… So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed. I think I heard about this on a podcast. It seems I hear about books, reserve them with the library, and then am surprised when they pop up on my virtual reading shelf. This has been a fascinating read about the shaming culture that has been building on the internet, the mob mentality that jumps on the shaming bandwagon, and how the people being shamed are affected.

Watching… The Big Sick. I do not remember on which podcast it was, but I heard Emily Gordon talking about writing the script for this movie and thought that I should watch out for its release. I was excited to discover that it was at RedBox and was able to rent it for free. It’s based on the true story of the beginning of Gordon’s relationship with Kumail Nanjiani. She gets sick and falls into a coma. He’s tasked with contacting her parents, who he’s never met. It’s a funny, heartwarming story. I loved it.
Listening to… Little Fires Everywhere. I’d had this audiobook on hold with the library for awhile. When I discovered the Scribd includes one audiobook per month, I decided to get this one. It’s the story what happens when a lawsuit divides a small town that prides itself on being forward-thinking and diverse. There were several story lines carried throughout the book. Overall I enjoyed it but was a little disappointed in how the whole story was wrapped up.
Drinking… Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Spice Tea. Fall is here, let the pumpkin spice consumption begin. I picked this up at TJ’s the other day figuring it was time for some pumpkin spice. It’s delish! I love that’s it’s caffeine free so I can drink it in addition to my daily coffee without feeling like I’m going overboard.
Loving… TOMS Avery Booties. If you’ve been around here very long, you know I’m a huge fan of TOMS shoes – not necessarily the classic style, but all the others. I have two pairs of flats, three pairs of sandals, and now these booties. I’ve been wanting some booties that didn’t come up so high on my ankle that they didn’t look good with pants. I think these are going to be perfect. I’ve worn them a couple of times with jeans and they’re really comfortable. I think they will definitely be a staple in my Fall/Winter capsule.
