Surprise! Surprise! I’m back. I have a lot of things I want to accomplish and am having trouble determining where to direct my attention. Unfortunately the blog has suffered. I’m really going to try to do better, but I’m not making any promises.
Reading… This is How it Always Is by Laurie Frankel. I have read several books since my last post, but this was probably my favorite. I love books about unfamiliar worlds and this is definitely one of those. It’s the story of a child that is born Claude but feels that he has the soul of a girl and begins living life as Poppy. The characters are very well developed and the story pulls you in to the lives of the Walsh-Adams family and the struggles they face.
Watching… Master of None. I’ve been watching series on Amazon and Netflix since the summer began. Master of None has been my favorite. It’s funny; it makes you think; and the cinematography is superb.
Wearing… Stripes. I’m doing a modified Project 333. Project 333 is 33 pieces (clothing, shoes & accessories) for 3 months. I’m not limiting my shoes and accessories, but have selected 30 pieces of clothing to wear the next 3 months. My capsule contains a lot of stripes.
Loving… my new LG Combination Washer/Dryer. My old stackable washer and dryer was bought from the previous owners of my house and was at least 15 years old. It was beginning to scorch my clothes. I contemplated buying front loaders and stacking them but soon realized that they would be too tall for the space. I’ve been researching the combination washer/dryer for quite some time and decided to go for it. Reviews are mixed; most people love them, but some people seem to hate them. Thankfully, I’m in the ‘love-em’ camp. It’s a lot more energy efficient and it’s so awesome being able to put clothes in to wash when I go to bed and waking up to dry clothes!
Listening… to The Power of Habit. Gretchen Rubin talks a lot about the importance of habits in maintaining happiness in one’s life. Like her, I find myself a little fascinated with the subject. I’ve been listening to this book on audiobook and have really been enjoying it. It’s so interesting to hear about why we do the things we do and struggle to do the things we want to do. I recommend it.
