Watching… Foyle’s War. Since most of my shows are on summer break, I’ve been on the hunt for something good to watch. Being the anglophile that I am, I re-subscribed to Netflix and added several British series to my queue. First up was Foyle’s War. It’s a detective program set in England during WWII. It can be a tad melodramatic but I love all the characters and am looking forward to devouring all 9 series (seasons for you Americans).
Reading… Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less. I was intrigued by the “You can do anything, but you can’t do everything,” quote from this book shared on Becoming Minimalist. I thought it might be great inspiration and so far it has been. It has me thinking of myself as more of an essentialist than a minimalist. I’ve always had so many varied interests that I feel pulled from one thing to another. This book really has me contemplating what I find as essential so I can focus on those things and let the others go.
Listening to… Be Frank with Me. Anne mentioned that the audio version of this book was supposed to be especially good so when I was looking for my next audiobook I chose this one. It’s the story of Frank, a precocious ten-year-old boy, and the woman tasked with keeping an eye on him while his mother writes a book. I’m about halfway through it. I am enjoying it okay, but am also finding it a bit exhausting. Frank is a handful!
Wanting… new glasses. I’ve had an annoying eye twitch for the last week or so, so of course I googled it. One of the possibilities mentioned is that my eyes are tired and need a little assistance. The last time I saw the eye doctor he recommended I wear glasses during screen time. I have been out of the habit of wearing them, so I pulled out my Warby Parker’s. I think it’s helping. Now I’m convinced I need a new pair; I’ve been checking out the current line at Warby Parker and Fetch Eyewear.
Loving…TP-Link Smart Plug. Amazon had a super-sale on these smart plugs a few weeks ago so I used some of my birthday gift cards and bought one. I have the air purifier in the bedroom hooked up to it. It’s awesome to be able to tell Alexa to turn it off and on!
