Reading… Visual Intelligence. I heard the author of this book on a podcast recently and was intrigued by her system of using art to hone the skills of law enforcement officials. I’m hoping to improve my observation skills and appreciation of art.
Watching… Meet the Press. It’s pretty sad that one of the highlights of my TV watching week is a political roundtable. My Dad watched This Week with David Brinkley every Sunday morning, which looking back may have been the seed that led me to get an emphasis in Political Science in college. I am equally fascinated and horrified by the current state of American politics. I always feel a little better about the state of affairs after watching Sunday’s show.
Visiting… The Oklahoma Aquarium and the Matisse Exhibit at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. I had heard great things about the aquarium but hadn’t yet been. It was ok – it would probably be more enjoyable (serene) when school is in session. I took some photos of one of the starfish but regret not taking more of the rest of the tropical fish; I think the colors and patterns would make great reference photos for pattern design. I also checked out the Matisse exhibit. It was ok – not as extensive as the one I saw in Denver a few years ago. It was also really crowded. I may have to wait until summer’s over and go on a week day to avoid the crowds.
Eating… at The Vault. I have been wanting to check out this retro restaurant for awhile and was excited to get to see it in person. It’s housed in the Mid-Century Modern building that was once the First National Auto Bank. I wish we had something similar in Oklahoma City!
Loving… Tom’s Wedges. I used to wear heals quite a bit, but somewhere along the way I really began to value comfort in my shoes. I have gradually been replacing my less comfortable shoes and have found the number of Tom’s in my closet increasing. They are super cute and comfortable and I love that they’ve stopped putting the obnoxious labels on the back.
