How was your weekend? Mine was pretty lazy with a few good stretches of productivity.
Watching… Boyhood. With all the Oscar buzz over the weekend, I decided to give one of the most talked about movies a go. I think the novelty of the movie being filmed over a twelve year period is pretty much the only thing that makes it interesting. There really wasn’t a plot and it was kind of boring, especially for a movie that’s almost three hours long.
Wanting… Stak Kitchen Dock. I often use my iPad in the kitchen. This dock would definitely come in handy. This phone dock is super cute too; it would be perfect for a desk, maybe using the planter part as a pen holder.
Eating… Samoas. A very sweet friend surprised me with a box of Samoas. I kept them in the freezer so as not to eat them all in one sitting. I did pretty well, only eating three at a time, every few days. I finished up the box this weekend. Yum! I’m going to have to try this healthier homemade version.
Studying… Intro to Surface Pattern Design by Bonnie Christine. I spent much of my weekend watching the videos from this Skillshare class. I took my first surface pattern design class several years ago and have been working at it ever since. Even though I thought I knew all of the basics, I learned several new-to-me Illustrator tricks. I think the skills I’ve learned will also help me with lettering in Illustrator.
Cleaning…off my desk. I did some purging in my studio this weekend, including cleaning off my desk. It has been a total mess for awhile, which has not been conducive to getting anything accomplished. I do a lot of my writing using my laptop on the sofa, but design work usually happens on the desktop. Hopefully this clean space will help me make some much needed design progress.
