Last week, I mentioned that I had started reading Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok. I finished it this week and I really, really liked it. It’s the story of a young girl and her mother that immigrate from Hong Kong to the U.S. Neither of them speak much English and are at the mercy of the mother’s sister. They work in a sweat shop and live in a condemned building. On the face of it, it sounds depressing, but like Orange Is the New Black, it wasn’t depressing but a fascinating peak into a life that I would never have imagined I would find interesting.

Have you seen any of the movies nominated for the Best Picture Oscar? I’ve seen three of the nine, which is more than many years. The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore is nominated in the short-film category. It’s beautiful, especially if you are a lover of books.
Silhouette Cameo
Does anyone have a Silhouette Cameo? I really want one! If you aren’t familiar with it, this post at Homemade by Jill explains it and shows some projects she did with it. I think there are a lot of things I could use it to do and sell in my Etsy store. I just don’t know where I would put it on my desk. Maybe I could move my printer. Hmmmm…..
