I mentioned yesterday that I took a short trip to California. My father’s cousin passed away in January; my mom, aunt and I went out for her memorial service. We stayed at a beautiful airbnb in Pasadena. I’m not sure I will ever stay in a hotel again. I loved staying in a house in the heart of the city.
The memorial was an ash scattering in the Pacific Ocean. Before we departed Newport Beach we walked around a bit and saw some fabulous homes that would be perfect for my “small house of the week.”
The boat took us out quite a ways before the ashes were scattered. We saw some amazing homes, yachts, and wildlife on the way out. I spent three months at sea and never saw a dolphin. We saw several! I didn’t get very good photos, but it happened.
The next day, we tried to see as much of Los Angeles as we could. We spent the morning at The Getty. We saw Van Gogh’s Irises as well as some other incredible works of art. The gardens were also fun to walk around. After leaving the Getty, we drove around Beverly Hills and Hollywood. We visited the Hollyhock House and Griffith Observatory.
The parking lot at the Griffith Observatory provided a great location to grab a picture of the Hollywood sign. Please excuse the grainy iPhone photo.
When we returned to Pasadena we drove by the Rosebowl and capped off the day with In-N-Out Burgers. Yum!
It was a short but enjoyable trip. I would definitely like to go back when I can spend more time. Have you been to California? What was your favorite thing to do while you were there?
